I wanted opinions on whomever could give some. I want to completely upgrade my system. I wanna have an Abit motherboard, and probably use an Athlon processor, hopefully of clock speed around 1 Ghz, but I don't have much to spend on this stuff. What kind of motherboard and CPU should I get if I want to get a decently fast speed, for less than $150? I have about 384 megs of PC100 memory from my old system that I will reuse if it is compatible with high clock speed motherboards. But I doubt that, so I have found some decent deals for getting some PC133 or PC2100 memory at around $60. I would greatly appreciate anyone's info.

Fry's electronics has 256 megs of ddram for only $34.95 this weekend in austin. Name brand ddram prices are rising, so you have to shop carefully. The pc100 sdram won't even work well with the xp. You need to switch to ddram, even if it's generic. If you live near a Fry's, get the ddram now and order your mobo and cpu online. Newegg has a refurbished section with many kt266a boards. They also list an asus a7s333 with sis 745 for about $50 shipped. I would also sell your old sdram. You may be able to get $30-40 for it.
