Hi guys is it better to go i7 for gaming or just upgrade my cpu and psu ? rig is in sig

For gaming you're probably better off (and certainly cheaper) just upgrading CPU & RAM.

With a BIOS update you can support up to the latest 3GHz quad-core (Q9650), not that I would use that, most likely...

But looking at the rest of your rig, you also really need a faster HDD.

q8200 >3GHz
4GB DDR2-800 (Corsair kit for $20AR)
WD6401AALS Caviar Black

Would be a good start.

well i dont live in the usa so rebates are a no no for me... still the parts are cheap hehe but what other quadcore would you reccomend dunno how far the p31 fsb can go...

If you flash to the latest BIOS you can use *any* of the Core 2 Quad chips: Q8200, Q8300, Q9300, Q9400, Q9450, Q9550, Q9650, QX9770 just to name the 45nm models.

You could also use the Q6600 but those run hotter.
