Quick easy question I believe.....

I have a Gainward GeForce 4/4400 card that came with 29.32 (I think) drivers. I downloaded the latest from nVidia (29.42) and just ran the setup. Should I have uninstalled anything before installing the latest? If so, what and how please.

thanks.

Yes - always go to add/remove programs and uninstall your old drivers first and then reboot bofore installing the new drivers.

I uninstalled the 28.32 drivers and then installed the 29.42 and it screwed up windows, wouldnt even boot into safe mode, had to reinstall. I agree its the best practice but this time it didnt work for me.

You should uninstall drivers especially if they are different brands like Gainward to Nvidia or Nvidia to Gainward, however if you`re going from Nvidia official drivers to newer Nvidia official drivers you do not need to remove them, you can install over the top of the old ones(yes I`ve done it this way since 12.xx release) .
