Okay, I will be upgrading my video card at the beginning of March. I will be getting the Nvidia FX or the Radeon 9700pro. Now I have a Geforce 2 GTS and recently upgraded my cpu/ram/mobo and have had some problems with Maya if I upgraded my drivers past Detonator 2.XX. So I am worried about getting an FX card. Is it most likely my video card being the culprit or something else?

Most likely it's the card. Nvidia's drivers have been solid, of course when FX first debuts, there will be problems initally, but either card will be nice, especially in your system. Waiting til march would be a good idea, as the price should drop some then.

But, I had it running with 4.xx when I had my old mobo/cpu/ram setup. I do have it overclocked though and I did try to do the softquadro patch right before I upgraded so that might be it.

Only crashing when overclocked?

The 30.xx drivers are supposidly the best for gf2-gf3 cards, and the 40.xx for gf4.

Is there a patch available for Maya?

Crashing with or without overclocking. No patch, it was the same problem with maya 4.0 and maya 4.5

Well only other thing I can think of would be bios settings, or possibly heat related, but if it's not crashing in anything else, I can always cop out and say..... Look
