Upgrading my precious AMS G-Box

http://www.american-media.com/Products/PC_Servers/EG65/EG65.html

actually, that shows what it looks like. i don't think i have the 865G chipset.

i had a friend visiting my apartment recently and she really liked the acrylic on the computers. 2 of my computers are in acrylic cases. so i decided to show her my G-box.

then i realized - sh*t, this has a 2.4 GHz Celeron and a crappy power supply.

has anybody ever upgraded one of these ? or are they just a flashy, forever-to-be-underpowered system ? i don't want to spend too much money, but it is a favorite computer. retired but appreciated.

Not really. However, if you're lucky, you might be able to substitute another motherboard from the manufacturer. I recall that there's a version of your PC that has the 865P chipset featured on a Woot from long ago, but I can't really say.

My solution would be to get a mATX or Shuttle replacement motherboard, some polycarbonate and aluminum channel, and build one from scratch.
