uggh, i had gateway computer and took a shotty to it. I just started from scratch again. I would start with a new mobtherboard (ASUS, ABIT, etc are good) and processor (Athlon 2500+ XP, if you can affor it go for a A64 instead). Video card isn't terrible, but the 9800 pro for ~$200 is unbeatable (make sure its 256 bit bus) I couldn't resist myself:D

Gotta go with Justin on this,, just shoot it. Maybe salvage the HDD, keep the vid card as a spare. Bottom line you would be worlds happier with all new components. Sell this sucker as a whole on egay or yardsale it. Use the cash to start new. MaximumPC magazine could show you how to build a real nice comp for $500.

What do you need the machine for? Work? Surfing? maybe a new hard disk and more memory would work if you're going to use it for a bit. Otherwise I suggest buying building a new one. Good Luck

Yeah I would just say upgrade the RAM and video card, unless you're wanting to completely upgrade everything. That processor is just fine for basic stuff.
