Upgrading my mobo (AKA did I just kill my CPU?)

I've got a X2 3800+ on a DFI Ultra-D that I've had for about 6months. I have an older 3700+ San Diego chip that I'm not using. I got the new Asus A8n32 mobo, figuring I would put my X2 in it, and use the 3700+ and DFI mobo to build up a second system for a Xmas present for relatives.

I got my DFI out of the case, took everything apart to switch parts, you know, the usual routine. Put everything back together with the Asus, and it won't POST. It will turn on, but nothing, no POST, nothing. Just fans spinning.

Did the usual basic troubleshooting, check wires, HS, RAM, etc. Didn't help. Figured I would try my 3700+ in it, same thing. Swapped my PSU out (seasonic 600W), and tried a PCP&C 510W. No dice.

Hooked up my DFI motherboard, put the X2 in, and no boot, get 4 LED's. Put in the 3700+, no boot, 4 LED's. Both of these chips worked fine (the SD has been sitting in a box, since I got the X2, and I've used the X2 with no problems up until yesterday)

So I think both CPU's are dead, and I have a defective motherboard. I tried clearing the CMOS, different RAM, different slots, new PSU, nothing. I've put together many PC's before, and took the usual standard precautions: power off, PSU off, hit the power button to drain any caps, stay grounded, only touch edges of parts, etc...

Does anyone have any other ideas for me to try?

Anyone have any ideas for another mobo? I'm going to RMA the Asus, should I stick with the A8N32, since this was probably just a bad board. Maybe just go with the A8N-premium?

Just a idea since this was my problem with my last build, you did plug in the extra power hookup for the CPU right?

Yup, I double checked I had all mobo and video card power plugs plugged in. I even tried a different set of RAM just to make sure that wasn't the problem.

I've built my own PC's since the old PII days, and never killed a CPU before. I can't rule out that I did something wrong, but I didn't do anything differently this time, so I am leaning to the motherboard being bad.
