I'm looking at upgrading my audio system in the next couple months, starting with my 4 channel amplifier.

What I have now:
  • Alpine CDA-7995 head unit
  • Rockford Fosgate Punch 6x8 coaxials
  • Stock Ford speakers in the rear doors
  • Generic 4 channel amp (was given as a gift, it was part of a "Bass Package" kit from Wal-Mart years ago)
  • Kenwood KFC-110W 10" subwoofer in sealed 1.1cft box
  • SoundStream Di.300 mono amp

I'm keeping the Alpine head unit, the Fosgate speakers (putting them in the rear doors) and the SoundStream amp for my sub. Everything else will be getting replaced, eventually.

What I'm looking at for speakers are a set of Rockford Fosgate Prime R-152S components for the fronts, a 10" Rockford Fosgate shallow sub in a q-logic customs enclosure under my rear seat, and the Rockford Fosgate Punch 6x8s in my rear doors.

The Prime R-152S are rated at 40w RMS and the Punch's are 50w RMS, both at 4ohm. I'm looking at one of these three amps to power the speakers

Alpine MRP-F300: 50w*4 @ 4ohm $145, Amazon.com
Rockford Fosgate PRIME R300-4: 50w*4 @ 4ohm $140, Sonicelectronix.com
Sound Ordnance M-4050: 50w*4 @ 4ohm $140, Crutchfield.com

All 3 amps seem to be fairly well-regarded around the net, but I'd like a few more opinions on them. Either amp will do as they're all similar in specs and features, but I can't decide if the amp should be the same brand as the speakers or the head unit, or if it even matters. I know you shouldn't mix and match speaker pairs, but no real idea about amps.

Back when I was into car audio, I had Rockford Fosgate amps. I beat the piss out of them and never popped one. The quality is top notch....at least it was back then.

Have you already added sound deadening/insulation to the doors/floor?

I have not, and I actually don't think I need it. Even at ear splitting volumes, you really can't hear the stereo outside the truck with the windows up.

I love that crap. So worth it in small vehicles. I went nuts and put it over all the in ceiling speakers throughout my entire house. I did most of the ceiling in the basement as well.

Should have heard the difference in the 510 im restoring.
