upgrading my 600m's 1.3 GHz...when?

I bought my 600m back in April when it costed about $100 to get 1.4 GHz as opposed to a 1.3 GHz chip. I also recently saw a number of 1.4 GHz and up Pentium-Ms on pricewatch.com. The upgrade's not urgent but can someone recommend how to go about determining when the benefits of upgrading outweigh the costs(or are about the same)? Thanks.

I'd wait and see if the dothan (next-generation Pentium-M) will be pin compatible with the banias motherboards. 1.3 -> 1.4 will not be significant enough to warrent upgrading IMO, maybe if you found a 1.7 you really really wanted for the right price.

Go to the Dell forums and you can find links to repair manuals that show how to change the CPU. I read it and it sounds pretty easy. I cannot direct you to the specific posts since I did not bookmark them. Good luck, Bekker

don't know about upgrading a cpu in a 600m... if its possible then it will be a pain because those thin and light notebooks are packed together quite well.
theres a good chance that its soldered on, but who knows
