Upgrading monitor

I've had this 17" monitor for many many years. I think it's time to move up to a 19" or maybe even higher. I realized this after buying BF2, and playing in this low resolution that I was satisifed with up till now. How are the widescreen LCD's for gaming?

Is the one I have been eyeballing, and thinking about getting. I bet a widescreen would have great FOV in games, and help see stuff around you without having to look left and right.

That seems to be a decent monitor, but you may be disappointed at the lack of widescreen support in games right now.

Also, this is a decent quality monitor for not that much more, and then you would get the benefit of 1680x1050 over 1440x900.

With either of the two, you are going to need a video card upgrade to run games at the native resolution of those monitors.

That's a good deal, but the LG 194WT is probably the superior monitor. It is a TN panel, with 5ms response, 2000:1 dynamic contrast (like 800:1 true contrast) and it's a very bright monitor. I have one and love it. My only beef is it doesn't come with a dvi cable. Lucky for me the vga quality is still awesome. I just got a dvi cable and the upgrade is minor.

WS 19" is fine but if you can afford a 20.1 or larger you'd be better off because it offers higher resolution.

I just picked up the Dell 24" widescreen LCD and am loving it so far. It's a great gaming monitor. I should mention, however, that Battlefield 2 (for 2142 for that matter) does not actually support widescreen gaming. It's not all bad news though. There is a work around that lets you force the resolution. The UI will be a little stretched out, but the action and FOV will be widescreen.

Other games I play do support widescreen. Company of Heroes is just better on widescreen.
