Can someone tell me whether or not i'm going to have to reinstall windows when i upgrade my motherboard and videocard
gigabyte K8NSNXP 939 to an asus A8N-SLI
6800GT to a 7800GTX

No, I have had no problems going from one board with same chipset to another even cross manufacturers. Even if that could happen there are ways to prepair windows for the swap I don't have links on hand so you may need to google it. Vid shouldn't cause any issues.

I like the feeling of a totally clean computer, especially when I swap or install new hardware.
I also have a seperate drive that I store all non-system files on to keep re-formats effortless.

Besides, having a clean slate means that none of the old stuff might get in the way, like old drivers, etc.

Thats the thing new drivers wouldn't have to be installed except maybe for the video card but thats just like upgrading your drivers right now. I wouldn't worry about it to much.

But he is right nothing feels better then a clean O/S. Its like going on a trip and not being able to shower for 2-3 days once you get out of the shower everything feels great.

Yeah agreed, if it will be too much of a pain for you to do, don't bother. Although, you're switching from an NF3 to an NF4, they use seperate drivers am I correct? You may need to wipe the drivers using whatever that program is called, but I'm not sure, I always wipe 😀.

Not seperate drivers, even their chipset drivers are unified and should cause no problems. But again i would "prepare" your O/S for the change first.
