upgrading LCD screen on vostro 1510

From what I understand the dell vostro 1510 laptops take up to a WUXGA (1920 x 1200) res display. I unfortunatley on a 1200 x 800 display. I was doing some reading online and found out that the LCD component itself is compatable with pretty much all displays. So if you found a sharp/nec/sony etc wuxga 15.4" display you can pretty much retrofit it by swaping the frame and other compoents off your old screen into the laptop. Does anyone know about this???

As i understand it most laptops are very particular about there screens. A good portion of the hardware to run the screen is built into the laptop's main board. So its only compatible with a certain model of screen at a certain resolution. Sure the onboard video supports otehr resolutions but thats for the VGA output on the unit.
