Upgrading kid's computer-GeForce MX best bet?

I'm upgrading my son's computer-its a P2-350 on an Abit bx6 rev. 2.0 motherboard. Currently has a TNT1/Voodoo2 12 MB video setup. I have another Voodoo2 available, so could put it in SLI mode at no additional cost.

I bought 128MB memory (got PC133) for $50. Don't plan on upgrading the cpu-Intel wants too much.

My thoughts on a new video card are a GeForce MX. Is this overkill for this system? Any brands or models to look for or avoid-for what I've read looks like all MX's are pretty much the same. Possibly thinking of a Radeon 32 MB (have one on order for my system) but I read they are more cpu intensive than the GeForce.
My son is a heavy gamer-most everything, esp. shooters.

A GeForceMx would be a good choice, as would the Radeon for a bit more. If he plays Unreal tournament or Deus Ex, you may want to put the two Voodoo2's in for glide support.

Go with the MX. You are right, the Radeon is much more CPU demanding. Thump, you practically answered your own question.

The MX, preferably the Hercules, is the way to go. Fits your CPU (and wallet) perfectly.

If you want something even cheaper, choose another brand MX (lesser brand). Sure, they are a tad slower (166MHz mem, 6ns) but you will hardly notice that on your current system.

Good luck!

Of course any of these newer cards won't give optimal performance with that slower CPU. The MX is a good choice for that system.
