Upgrading Integreated Video to PCI

Hi,
I'm having problems installing a new PCI video card in win2k. There is an integrated ati Rage II on the motherboard. When I put the new video card in, there's no display, the monitor just goes black, whether the monitor is plugged into the ATI or the new PCI card. the motherboard is an older Ancrhorage, I looked in the bios but saw nothing for disabling video. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
