Upgrading from Win7 Starter

I've noticed a lot of the more recent netbook models come with Windows 7 Starter installed. Now, there's not a chance in hell I would use such a crippled OS, and I don't even see how much power it could possible save anyway (I can shut Aero off myself and not run many programs if I feel the need). However, I think the fact that the system comes with Win7 at all means that it all the drivers are available to run Home Premium (or Ultimate, really any legit version of Win7). Most also come with the Intel GMA 950 graphics chip, which I know for a fact will support Aero.

So my question is this: do any of you guys have experience in upgrading a Win7 Starter netbook to Home Premium or Ultimate? Was it as simple and painless as I hope? Did the battery life suffer significantly?
 
No experience upgrading from starter, but I have installed Win 7 Pro on my mini 10v which originally shipped with XP. The only trick was that I had to copy the install CD onto USB, because I didn't have an optical drive for my mini. I didn't notice any change in battery life, but I didn't have XP installed for more than a couple days.
 
The big worry I'm having is drivers. I have Win7 installed on my EeePC, but I don't use it because Asus doesn't have drivers available for Vista or 7. And since the battery life relies a lot on the Asus power saving software, it makes the system pretty useless.
