I know its always best to reformat when upgrading to another socket, but I was wondering if there was a way to upgrade, but not have to reformat my hard drive. It'd just be a pain to reinstall everything.
SysPrep is often not good enough. SysPrep only works if the two motherboards use the same HAL - that's the APIC, APCI, & uni/multi-processor stuff.Originally posted by: Vegito
1. Ghost your hdd & backup
2. Copy and run SysPrep - use mini install & pnp & shutdown flag
3. Swap mobo
4. Boot and sysprep will re-run windows setup
5. If you dont like it, ghost your drive back and try other methods..
