I've sort of inherited this job since I'm more IT'ish than any of our other engineers... we are deploying a new management program for our small 30 person aviation repair facility and it requires R2 standard with dedicated 500GB RAID 10 for the oracle database which the software company will be installing. We have R2 essentials now. Apparently, you can just do an upgrade by buying a license and all the CAL's. Anyone have experience with this? It is the main server (Dell Poweredge T630), so it would be good if I didn't screw it up! We did just get a new small thinkserver TS140 to use as a backup and it can be configured any way we need it. The company is not on a domain, just a workgroup. Any suggestions for the best way to proceed is appreciated.
