I know this sounds really silly and all, but im kinda startled...

Ive just tried swapping my old Rendition V2200 for a NVIDIA TNT2 M64 (*sigh*).
I took the old one out, put the new one in (well... newer :p) WinXP took to it like a duck does to water... Win98 on the other hand, thats another story...

After much fighting with Win98, I have actually got it to boot (using the old vid card) but i have been getting almighty hangs on both this card and the M64 before going in to windows.

What do I have to do to get the damn AGP card working!

After things decided not to work i got hit by an idea that some time ago i heard that you had to remove the old cards drivers and tell it to use standered VGA drivers, take the old PCI card out and pop the new AGP one in... I can't remember if that is correct or not, but i cant seem to be able to try it as i cannot boot with standard VGA drivers, it keeps detecting the Rendition card and using its real drivers instead.

Ughhh... Stupid old computer!
Thanks
Dave (gotta love 16 colour 640x480 windows.. why the hell arent i in xp right now?)

You already said it, uninstall old drivers, install standard VGA, put in new card and install those drivers....

how to do it??? Beats me, that was one of the reasons why I ditched W98 for W2000.

Try this tho: write down the file names in the driver properties tab of the graphics card... delete all registry entries with those names and also delete those files from the windows directory (best do this in dos), now try the new card.

If you do get it working,go into the BIOS and look for something that says like "Video device (i forgot)" Ad make sure that says AGP.
