Upgrading from NT to 2000. How hard is it?

My father has a mini network at his office. His server runs Novell. Both of his workstations are NT and he desperately needs an upgrade.

Can he upgrade to 2000 from NT without formatting? Is it safe?

Thanks.

Safe and intended by M$.

Stick the CD and Go. All settings are retained.

Yes, you can upgrade to 2000 from NT without a whole lot of trouble. However, I always try and do a clean install if at all possible. I've found that it's better overall, especially for avoiding software compatibility issues. FWIW.

It should be OK but I did find that a machine I upgraded to 2000 from NT4 without a format was quite slow, re-formatted and installed 2000 and it was great...but this is not always the case, yours might be fine.
