For my buddy, he needs to run CAD and his ol' BX MB w/P2-450 just wont do well.... so that's where I come in.

SO I have a Shuttle MB based on the KT333 here, along with the CPU (2100+) and a stick of DDR333 (512mb)

Q) I need to uninstall the Intel based USB driver in device MGR, and any other MB drivers it may have....
so when it boots with the new MB it will redetect and I will install the latest 4in1 drivers (442)

I just forget what all I should be uninstalling here.... anyone remember ?????

Thx in advance:)

So what you want to know is:

if you install the new MB and keep the old HDD and windows, will windows work correctly?

The best thing is a clean install. Next best would be a (depending on the OS) re-install.

When a major change is done to your configuration windows might panic. It may work by recognizing the new devices and such, but if it finds something and there is no driver for it, you will be very annoyed. Any 9x based OS can just be re-installed to set everything up correctly. NT based is a whole new ball game. It may detect everything and work great or it may not even boot.

When I changed my MB I just let WinXP detect everything and it has been running very well. Not everyone is that lucky.

Trying to avoid the clean install.... although its what I prefer to do....

But I will back-up everything I can b4 I go ahead.... just in case I have to format the darn thing.

BUt I KNOW there was a list of things to uninstall from device mgr b4 putting in the new MB.... I was hoping to get this from a member here....

I've done it b4, I just cant remember the whole thing.... and it wasn't BX to KT333 either.... I think it was AMD 760 to KT266a, so it wasn't such a big change.....:)

So anyway..... give me what you can remember.... and thx guys. ;)

Since Intel and VIA both happen to use UHCI style USB controllers, it's the same driver.

However everything else, from IDE to AGP, is different.
