Currently have 2 partitions, 1 for OS / Programs and 2nd for .. you know...

So, could I delete the first partition, upgrade my nf2/axp to nf4/a64 and then install xp on the 1st partition?

No need for deleting, when firing up your AMD64 PC for the first time, just format it and install XP onto the first partition...

When I migrated wifey's machine from an nforce 2 to and nforce 4. I simply uninstalled everything (chipset, and video drives) shut down. Changed boards booted with XPcd and selected repair. That kept all my registry and programs intact. Then I just had to install chipset drivers and such.

Nice!! Has anyone else done this? I really might consider this..

So you deleted JUST the chipset drivers, video card drivers, what about programs?

Yes. No. Maybe.

I moved a machine from nForce2-->nForce4 without reinstalling, or even uninstalling anything. Simply plugged the old drive into the new system, booted, and let Windows do its thing.

A reinstall is the best method though, assuming you've taken care to ensure you won't wipe out any important data.
