Upgrading from an Xperia T2 Ultra

I want to get a new phone, and preferably not bigger than 5.5" (T2 Ultra is 6" and with one handed operation, I can just barely not reach across to the far left keys; 5.5 ought to be OK).

Anyway, I want to spend as little as possible (though I could spend $400 if no other choice), so one thing I'm considering is the Blu Life One X at $150. Now, I read reviews and they mention things like "good performance but some delays here and there". Now, considering the phone I'm coming from, which has around half the Antutu score of the Blu Life One X, I should actually perceive it to be a huge upgrade, and the delays to me would probably be less than I currently get, right? I'd only see it as slow if I went and used a major flagship then downgraded to it (to the Blu)?

Thoughts?

The Blu Life One X has twice the RAM, twice the screen resolution, and a much better CPU. Plus it should get Android 6.0 eventually which is the current OS.

It would a huge jump, basically going from a 2012 flagship phone to a 2014 one.

I had Xperia T2 Ultra too, and Sony's ROM is pretty darn good what it managed to do with 1GB.
IMO it is better to avoid the low-range devices altogether... I'd shoot for the sweet deal that is Nexus 5x and its 5.2" screen.
