Upgrading from AMD 3200+ to X2 4200

I've got an AMD Athlon 64 3200+ processor in my ASUS A8V Deluxe mobo. I just bought a retail X2 4200 processor and I want to swap them out. From what I understand it won't take a OS reinstall but what do I need to do to be sure it recognizes it / runs properly?

Thanks in advance, Rob

1. Make sure your BIOS can run an X2 processor.

2. After installing your new cpu install AMD Dual-Core Optimizer

What function does that do? Something I should run if a dual-core proc is installed from the start?
