Upgrading from a x1950 pro

Making another PC for gaming out of spare parts to put at my friend's house for LAN purposes. I have an extra x1950 pro laying around and I was wondering if it was possible to have an actual upgrade in terms of performance for under 50 dollars. I was thinking my best bet would be find a used 3850, 8800gts, or 2900 pro for that price but good luck with that I guess. Even then, how much of a performance I would get? Is it even worth the effort.

I would stretch into 9800GT or 8800GTS 512mb for $65-75 category or 4850 1GB used.

However, at the bottom end, the performance increase is very significant even from those cards if you get a GTX260 or 4870 1GB used (although way over your budget).

Since you have a 24 inch LCD, the more horsepower you can afford the better.
