My faithful pally mobo is flaking out, and i am looking to build a new daily driver out of parts from fs/ft. I really don't go for bleeding edge, nor do I game. I won't spend more than 350 or so memory/proc/mobo, with a minimum of 1 and probably 2 gigs of ram. I could spend less;) I do enjoy the overclocking game:)
What do you all think or recommend along those lines? In case it was not obvious, I prefer the AMD offerings.

Well, if you're an oveclocker, and have been using a Palomino, I'd recommend you get a single-core 3000 from newegg. They have the E6's that are doing 2.5-2.6 Ghz for $68, IIRC. Of course, you could spend twice that much, and get an X2 3800, and be able to do between 2.4-2.6 on each core, but it costs twice as much. Also, don't forget that you're going to need a new power supply.

edit: Of course, if you're going to go single-core, it makes more sense to get either a $99 3700, or a $112 single-core 3800, which are 2.4 Ghz at stock speed.

Nobody said a 3700 was 2.4 Ghz at stock speed. 3800's are 2.4 Ghz at stock speed. They isn't 2.2 Ghz, like the 3700's is. Make more sense, now that I phrased it more your way?
