I just received my eVGA 6800 today from the Egg. I need to remove my old video drivers and install the new card with new drivers.

I have already downloaded the new Forceware 61.77 drivers that we just released, as discussed in this thread:
http://forums.anandtech.com/messageview.cfm?catid=31&threadid=1361168&highlight_key=y&keyword1=drivers

All I need advice on now is how best to remove the old drivers and make a smooth transition to the new hardware and drivers. Any advice would be much appreciated!

Thanks!

Here ya go!. These are the recommendations on the nVidia driver d/l page.

Driver Installation Hints

"Download Accelerator" utilities should be disabled when downloading any drivers.
Do not run virus protection software in the background while installing the drivers. This prevents the driver from configuring itself properly.
Before installing new drivers make sure you uninstall all NVIDIA display drivers from the Windows Control Panel. Browse to the Start Menu > Windows Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs and search for "NVIDIA Windows Display Drivers" or "NVIDIA Display Drivers" and select remove.

Enjoy your new card,

61.77 forceware drivers for XP/2k

Pretty sure this is the self installer version(aka open the file and it installs itself, if not you can get the 61.77's from Nvidia.com

Go ahead an install Drivercleaner and put a shortcut to the exe on your desktop.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1. Go to add/remove programs and unistall the Nvidia display adapter/drivers

2. Reboot your computer

3. When your computer returns from reboot, give it a minute so it auto detects your video card.

4. Cancel the auto install

*if you have any anti virus software running, exit out of it*

5. Run DriverCleaner from the desktop

6. In DriverCleaner, select the FIRST Nvidia from the drop down list and hit "Clean", this will clean any display drivers left over from the windows unistall.

7. Once it has cleaned out the residual drivers, exit out of the program.

8. Next you want to install the 61.77's using the self installer.

9. After it has finished installing reboot your computer.

10. Setup all the goodies how you like them, Res/AA/AS/Refresh etc etc.

You shouldn't need to remove them i dont think as you should be using the same drivers as Nvidias drivers are unified. What drivers were you using before that.

I just put in the new card, booted up. I was running 61.xx drivers, i just had that in and then later updated to 65.xx series. You should not have any problems.

Hehe...

I just upgraded my Ti200 to a 6800GT. I LOVE IT. Its so ridiculous how fast these videocards are coming now.

So, with your Ti200 in the computer, download the latest drivers (61.77, I believe), when thats finished, go to control panels, uninstall the current videodrivers via control panel. Shut down the computer, install the 6800, and install the latest drivers you have already downloaded before you removed the Ti200.

Goodluck! Let us know how well your card performs :).

I've never had problems with replacing a supported detonator card with another supported detonator card, without having to reinstall the drivers. You should be able to pop it in, and have it detect without problems.

Ati, on the otherhand, seems to dislike doing this with the catalysts.
