I think it is reparable if you have a steady hand, a solder gun, and some of those thingies. I know someone fixed something like that on a card a little back.

Really? Interesting.. I'll need to look into that. The card is currently at Sapphire and they're asking me if I want it shipped back.

I'll have to overclock my GPU some more I think, I have barely touched it since getting the new cooler so there's sure to be some leeway there.

I am torn though. I'd probably go for two R9 290s in any other case, but I was planning to give Nvidia a go. I know their price to performance isn't generally as good, but I do find if any other manufacturer is going to have driver problems etc, it'll be AMD. But it might just be a case of the grass is greener etc.

Waiting for nvidia to launch is more useful than you might think. Even if you love AMD and you already know your gonna go with them, waiting for nvidia to launch would be in your best interest. If the gm204 is cheaper and more powerful as the rumors suggest, then AMD will have to respond. They will make a counter move for sure. Whether it is lower prices or even a new model, AMD will not sit idle.

So i suggest you to hold out just a little while longer. The next few months are shaping up to be very interesting. I think there is a great chance of some fierce competition.....

So waiting for nvidia, doesnt have to mean your waiting for them just to buy their cards. It is simply, waiting for their move and the rippling effect it could have on the landscape

That's very true. I think waiting is the best course.

That said. I can get my hands on a pair of standard 290's for about...£360 (so $600ish). Or XFX versions for about 200 pounds.

Would that be a good value upgrade? I suppose they're not going to go UP in price after we know more about the 800 series though.
