Upgrading from 7900GT

So after finally going to Vista (w/ Dual boot of Ubuntu) on my Main System, I have discovered that the 7900GT and Vista do not get along in any sense of the word. Given that I have a 3-4 year old GPU, this kind of pushed me over the edge to upgrade.

My budget is about $150 right now. Generally a lot lower than I give to the computer but I have a bunch of other things that I need to keep most of my money for.

I found this 8800GT 512 for $134AR which is incredible.

I also found this 9600GT 512 for $139AR (Rebate is $10 less, so the cost up front is actually less)

I don't game nearly as much as I used to. In fact, I can't remember how long it has been since I've sat and played a good PC Game. But I want the capability to do so if I want to.

Given that, it will be used on a 22" WS Monitor (1680x1050).

Which card would ya'll suggest? I am open to other cards if you think there is one out there that better suits my needs.

Thanks
-Kevin

8800gt is faster and by far a better buy. if you really want to save money, you could go with a 8800gs for $80 after rebate.

If you can, wait 2-3 weeks. Both ATI and Nvidia have new generation cards coming out on June 16-17th, which will either a) be better choice, b) cause older cards prices to drop, or c) both.

Well, I am leaning towards that 8800GT 512 out of the two, but I just keep thinking that I never have time for gaming anymore. Is there something out there that is faster than my 7900GT and that is cheaper (Upfront and/or with rebate) as well?

Rebate expires today. After that the 8800GT's on Newegg go, at cheapest, to $149 AR. Granted they would probably fall due to the new chip, but Part of me thinks that a few weeks will be more like a month or two.
