Upgrading from 64GB SSD to larger 128GB SSD

Either my search terms were too ambiguous or it's late enough in the evening that I'm not doing it right, but I can't seem to find an answer to my question. A while back I upgraded an HDD to an SSD and I had to jump through a couple of hoops to ensure it was aligned properly.

I just built a new rig for my dad over the weekend and spent hours arranging things so it was just like his old computer (but a hell of a lot faster). I used the same SSD (60GB) drive I had previously upgraded him to and figured I'd wait for the 128GB M4 to drop to a really good price to upgrade to at a later time. Also, the 64GB was fine with 32 bit Windows 7, but now that he's on 64-bit, the free space is less than I feel comfortable with.

As it so happens, today Amazon has the M4 128GB at a really good price (lowest yet for them according to camelcamelcamel) and I pulled the trigger on it. All I want to know is if there's anything I need to worry about when it comes to cloning from an SSD to a larger SSD? I wouldn't expect so, and normally I'd just do a clean install...but...I JUST finished this rig and I really don't wanna. :)

Are there any suggested programs to use that work well with SSDs or can I just use my old copy of clonezilla? Thanks folks of the anandtech forum...always the best advice here. :)

AFAIK CloneZilla should work just fine for those SSDs, exactly the program I'd use.

Two main things to remember. You need cloneware that can handle different size drives. You are best using cloneware that has bootable media so you can do it from outside of Windows. (Avoids sharing violations and usually has a better and cleaner GUI, and is faster.)

I have used EZGIG4 that comes with Apricorn USB adapters (bundled in SSD upgrade kits). Worked mostly fine, and they explicitly stated it handles alignment.

Thanks for all the feedback! I will most likely attempt the upgrade with Clonezilla as I am familiar with it and it meets the two requirements mentioned by corkyg. MacriumReflect looks promising too though so we'll see if I'm feeling adventurous. ;) Thanks again!
