Upgrading from 4870

Hey everyone, like the title says I am looking into upgrading my HD 48701gb. My system specs are:

CPU: Intel Q6600 @ 3.2ghz
MOBO: Gigabyte ep45-ud3p
RAM: 4gb Mushkin
PSU: 650w Cooler Master
Case: NZXT Tempest
Monitor: 1920x1200

I am trying to decide between a HD 6950, GTX 570 or the new GTX 560. I want to be sure I am getting the best for the money (less than $350). I can get the Galaxy GTX 570 for ~$310 but I've never heard much about that brand. I'm not too concerned about the CPU bottlenecking (if it even will) as I am planning on building a new sandy bridge rig in a few months. I play most modern games and mainly want to make sure upcoming games (crysis 2) will be able to run well on it. Thanks in advance for any advice and let me know if you have any questions!

Galaxy is a respectable brand and I would feel confident recommending them. 😀
If the 570 fits your budget then id say get it, you might be CPU bottle necked now but if you upgrade to SB then you wont be any more.

Thanks for such a quick reply. That's really what I'm leaning toward the most. I've got a $200 gift card for tiger direct so really i'd only be spending a little over $100 for a 570

GTX 560 Ti or HD 6950/1GB seems the most bang/buck at 250 range, excellent value both of them. I think they fit 1920 pretty well.

Cards are always at a premium when they first come out so you're not exactly getting a great deal going with the newer stuff right now. Yeah the 560 is a bit faster than the 460 but not nearly worth the $100 dollar premium, not even close actually.

Currently the only cards worth their price tag are the GTX 460/6850 and 6870, especially if you overclock. Being that you have 200 already the 560 or 6950 1GB are indeed good options. You're wasting your money paying anything more unless you absolutely need max triple-monitor performance or super high display resolution though.

People seem to forget all these new cards springing up are simply variants of their big brothers. They all have pretty similar performance.

i would say with the 6950 price drops, those are more worth it than the 6870. especially since you can unlock them to a 6970 pretty successfully.
