Hello,
My general question is, do you think this is a good build for its purpose. The case and heatsink/fan are the most questionable. I am fine with ordering from newegg, clubit, zipzoomfly, etc. so long as they are reputable.
1. What YOUR PC will be used for. That means what types of tasks you'll be performing.
- web surfing, MS office, MS Money
2. What YOUR budget is. A price range is acceptable as long as it's not more than a 20% spread
- < $300
3. What country YOU will be buying YOUR parts from.
- USA
4. IF YOU have a brand preference. That means, are you an Intel-Fanboy, AMD-Fanboy, ATI-Fanboy, nVidia-Fanboy, Seagate-Fanboy, WD-Fanboy, etc, etc, etc, you get the picture.
- A fanboy of $$
5. If YOU intend on using any of YOUR current parts, and if so, what those parts are.
- Yes, already have the memory, processor, HD (ide) and cheap dvd reader (ide)
6. IF YOU have searched and/or read similar threads.
- Yes
7. IF YOU plan on overclocking or run the system at default speeds.
- will overclock, but not a heartbreak if it doesn?t overclock
Processor e6600 2.4 ghz already have this, did not come w/fan
CPU Fan/Heatsink COOLER MASTER RR-CCH-L9U1-GP 92mm Hyper TX2 http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16835103031 ~$25, $5 after rebate
Motherboard GIGABYTE GA-P35-DS3L http://www.clubit.com/product_...il.cfm?itemno=A4830813 ~$95

Powersupply ? comes w/above case
HD ? use the ide on the motherboard and keep the IDE HD I have now?

Going w/64 bit vista so I can use the extra memory (that?s the only reason)
Total cost:
- heatsink/fan - $25 ($5 AR)
- Motherboard - ~$95
- Case - ~ $35
- OS - ~ $115
- TOTAL: $270, ~$250 (AR)
