Upgrading EPoX 9NPA+SLI nForce

I've heard a few inklings of people having problems with the bundled nForce drivers (6.39) that come with this board. My computer is acting a bit odd, so I'm considering upgrading to the newest ones on the nVidia site (6.86, the AMD ones, which seem to be my only option as far as my board goes).

Has anybody done this with this board? If so, what were the results? I've heard too many horror stories from friends after they upgraded their nForce drivers on several different boards.
