Upgrading Epox 8K7A motherboard Questions

 I've a 1.2 GHz Athlon in my 8K7A motherboard and I want to upgrade the processor to an ATHLON XP 2400. I could be wrong, and please let me know if I am, but since I do a lot of video editing and video compression I figure that upgrading to anything less than twice the processor speed wouldn't be worth it. The Epox website says that this MB supports the XP2100. Has anyone tried anything higher than a XP2100 on this MB? Would I see much of a performance difference between my 1.2 GHz Athlon and the XP2100? I'm on a tight budget and would rather not upgrade to a different MB right now. You comments are greatly appreciated.

The 2100+ is a great processor! If money is an issue, it's the best bang for the buck right now. Not sure what your BIOS adjustments will allow you to do, but I've yet to own or work on a 2100+ that wouldn't do 2700+ out of the box with no voltage adjustments.

If you do alot of Video you might want to steer away from OCing. nothing worse then a long rendering and your system overheats, locks up or freezes. OCing and video editing are diametricly opposing forces. the 2500's are getting cheap but probably have to get a new mobo. might want to wait if you upgrade mobo to to see if the new 800mhz bus p4 boards will be in your budget.
