Upgrading - DDR2 vs DDR3

Hey all!

I'm planning to go AM3 in the near future, probably Athlon II or Phenom II.

For now I have a AM2 X2 5200+ and 4gb Crucial DDR2-800.

My question is: Should I buy an AM3/DDR3 mobo or a AM3/AM2+/AM2 mobo and keeping my DDR2-800 could be a good move too?

Is there any real performance difference, mostly in games, in DDR2 compared to DDR3?

Never get one of those DDR2/DDR3 compatible boards, they are just a headache IMO.

I would just outright go AM3/DDR3 if it's in your budget.
