Hello, my knowledgeable friends

I plan to upgrade my motherboard, GPU, CPU, HDD, RAM, and possibly add an SSD (current system specs are in my signature).

As with my build two years ago, I want to be able to play every current game at the highest settings; my gtx470 is aging and I plan on upgrading to a 670 around Black Friday/Cyber Monday. But I just saw a deal on NewEgg for an SSD, so I will focus on that right meow

With the $55 off with the promo code, the Kingston SSD comes to about $79.

I plan to use this as a boot-drive and possibly install a few games (GW2, Starcraft II, DOTA2). Is this a "top of the line" drive? Or should I save my money for BF/CM to snatch a better deal/product?

After I solve this, I will release the rest of my information and first picks for discussion/criticism.

I love all of you.

Sold out. The reviews seem to indicate all hyperX drives are good quality. Certainly better than ocz...

It's not an OCZ, but all SandForce drive share the same firmware (except Intel's), so they all have the same firmware bugs.

The rebate might have been worthwhile for a drive you weren't relying on. Otherwise, look at a Samsung 830 or Crucial M4, both of which use Marvell controllers.

You can also check out the Plextor M3 when that goes on sale. Uses the Marvell controller with 5 year warranty.

Yeah, the HyperX 3K is YASD (Yet Another Sandforce Drive), so normally I wouldn't bother. $79 was a great price for one, but it's gone now. Both of Ken's recommendations are solid however.

Alright, well I guess I'll be waiting until Black Friday time or maybe before if deals arise. Here are my first picks for my new build

GPU - Gigabyte GTX670

CPU - i5 3570 (I'm assuming I don't need the "k" for gaming)

RAM- 8GB Corsair (2x4gb)

HDD - 1TB Western Digital Caviar Black

MOBO - ASrockZ77

I want my motherboard to last me multiple builds; my current MOBO doesn't even have PCI3.0, otherwise I would use it for my gtx670. Should I spend a bit more for a more durable MOBO?

SSD - Crucial M4

I have a mouse and monitor (shown in sig). I will eventually buy a mechanical keyboard, but that's a minor aesthetic. As previously mentioned, I want to play every upcoming game on the highest settings at a solid 60fps or more.

Again, I always appreciate your knowledge.

There's no real point in picking out specific parts now that you don't plan to buy until November. The produce and price landscape will be completely different then.

PCIe 3.0 is a non-issue for current and near future graphics cards. They don't even touch the limitations of the PCIe 2.0 bus, especially not in single-card configurations. Also, Haswell (Intel's next CPU architecture) will use a new socket, so you're not going to be able to reuse the motherboard anyway.

Solid choice. There is also the Intel 330 120 GB for $95 AR which uses the IMHO inferior SF-2281 controller, but it does save some cash.
