Required Thread Info:
1. What YOUR PC will be used for? Gaming (RPG's and FPS's)
2. My budget: $300, maybe $350.
3. What country YOU will be buying YOUR parts from. USA.
4. IF you're buying parts OUTSIDE the US. No, most likely newegg.
5. IF YOU have a brand preference. AMD.
6. If YOU intend on using any of YOUR current parts. All except ones I want replaced.
7. IF YOU plan on overclocking. Maybe.
8. What resolution, not monitor size, will you be using? 1920x1080
9. WHEN do you plan to build it? When the parts are in.
10. Do you need to purchase any software? No.

Current Build
Motherboard: Gigabyte AMD 760G
CPU: AMD FX-4100 Zambezi 3.6GHz
GPU: AMD Radeon HD 7750 1GB
RAM: 8GB DDR3 1333
Storage: 500GB WD 7200RPM 16MB Cache
PowerSupply: Apex SolyTech SL-400TF 400W

Question
I'm needing some help on what to upgrade first... I'm thinking of replacing the motherboard with a 990FX motherboard from either ASUS, Gigabyte or ASRock first. Then the second part I want to upgrade, I'm still unsure about.. Should I buy better ram, gpu, or supply? What do you guys think I should upgrade?

Yeah def an SSD, and not sure how great your 400w PSU is... might wanna build a solid foundation first, before you upgrade to screaming bells and whistles.

For gaming, I would start by selling the 7750 for $60-70, giving you an effective budget of $350-400. Get a solid 400W PSU like the Corsair CX430 for $20 after a $20 mail in rebate (nobody would buy your current PSU, so no resale there). Get a better graphics card, like the 7850, for around $180. (Only $160 after a $20 MIR). Finally, get a 128GB SSD like this Sandisk Ultra Plus for $90. That's roughly $310 out of your pocket, only $270 after mail in rebates, and only $200-210 after selling your old GPU.

Replacing your motherboard and CPU won't offer any extra performance. You'd have to spend around $600 before getting balanced combination (a $100 990FX motherboard, a $200 8350 CPU, and a $300 7950, which is the cheapest tier of card that isn't underpowerred compared to the 8350).

This advice is spot on. Buy everything he listed, but note that those are hot deals prices, so don't expect them to stick around.

I've actually been looking at that exact GPU, the XFX 7850 2GB. I was looking at the details and it says a minimum of a 500W PS though, so will the 430W Corsair be fine with it?

Manufacturers overrate the needs of their GPU a bit because they know some users will try to save money by getting a generic PSU that can't really output what it claims. You should be fine since the CX430 is a good quality PSU from a reliable manufacturer.

Alright well thanks for guiding me guys! I just bought the GPU and the power supply. After I sell my 7750 and get my rebates I will be buying the SSD!
