My system at the moment:
AMD xp 2800+ socket A
1mb ddr pc 3200 ram
Ati x800 xl

I was thinkig of upgrading to a Sempron3100+ socke754 256kb(and a new mobo of course)
Would i get a significant boost compared to my old cpu or should i get
something completely different?
Is there a big differense between 256kb and the 128kb cpu?

Thanks in advance!

Performance will be about the same, unless you overclock the new cpu. I would save some more and go with socket 939. I found mine at Fry's with an ecs kt800 board (agp) for only $170 with a retail boxed 3200.

That would be more of a downgrade than an upgrade...You'd do better with an Athlon 64 3000+ 939 .... oh...and how in the world you run windows with 1MB of RAM :p

yeah 939 is the way to go.

there are some nice cheap 939 boards as well as cpu's such as the 3000+ venice if you can find one.

if you want to keep your agp card, then the asrock dual 939 board is for you as it as has both agp and pci-e
