Upgrading CPU on a Gateway

I was wondering if a CPU can be upgraded on a gateway system? In the BIOS there are no CPU options etc to play around with multipliers or any CPU settings. Can the BIOS be flashed or reset to default, without gateway crap? Not really thinking about an upgrade now but possibly later on if I can find a cheap quad core or something I can swap it out.

You don't need to play with BIOS settings to upgrade the CPU. As long as the BIOS supports the CPU. You'll be fine.

So it will auto detect new cpu and adjust? Also my ram is set to 2T command rate, I wouldn't mind getting rid of the gateway bios and changing it to 1T?

Yup.

I wouldn't bother trying. Their BIOS is locked up, and any performance increase you'd get wouldn't be worth the risk of trying to install a different one.
