I currently have a PII 400 with an Abit BE6 motherboard and running Win2000. I tried upgrading to the Abit KT7-Raid and AMD T-Bird 800. Everything else is the same. When I start the upgraded computer I get inaccessible boot device. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Were you connecting the HD to the RAID controller? If you were, it definitely would not work since the drivers have not been installed yet. If you were attaching it to the ATA66 controller and it still does not work, it may be that you do not have drivers installed for the motherboard.

Generally speaking, when upgrading to a new computer, especially when changing to AMD or VIA, its a good diea to do a fresh install of the OS.

Clean Install! It will reset your settings. Install the OS and do not format the system partition. Try that first to see if things work out. If not, then clean install altogether.

In addition try ensure that you are on either an ATA33 cable or set the BIOS to ATA33. This way the system is running on default drivers. Finally if you do get the system to function expect problems. Clean install really is the way to go in this instance.
