Hey folks,

In the near future, I plan on upgrading my CPU and mobo (currently an AMD 1.1 TB + Gigabyte 7IXE4 mobo), and I am trying to gather information on what effects the change-out will have on the XP Pro system.

I have one person that said that in their experience, XP Pro simply went out and installed the proper drivers and that it was a painless experience.

However, I'm not assuming that's the case across the board.

Whatcha think?

Thanks!

Copy all of your critical files to another partition.
Reformat
Reinstall new motherboard
Reinstall XP pro
Relocate all of your critical files to current location
Done.

Sorry man, it's just a good idea to reformat when installing any new mobo..

no problem here going from tusl-c pIII 1gb to p4b266-c p4 1.6gb.

it's still best to start with a clean install.
