Hi, I'm upgrading my rinky dink pII. I would like to know if these parts will work well together. I haven't been keeping up to much on computer hardware lately and want to know if I've made good/bad decisions. I'm not a gamer or plan on overclocking the system.

Enlight Medium ATX Tower Case Model EN-72370X3 with 300Watts Power Supply $50
IWILL KK266 VIA Apollo KT133A Chipset, 266MHz Bus, Socket A Motherboard with Sound $107
AMD Thunderbird 1.2GHz 266MHz Bus Socket A Retail Box Version with HeatSink and Fan $126
Kingston Value RAM 256MB PC133 168Pins SDRAM 32X64 Chip RAM 7ns $37

Thanks for any comments, I always appreciate help.

Not a bad setup, but for $26 more you can get an Epox 8K7A AMD 761 DDR motherboard and 256MB of Crucial DDR ram. That should future proof your system for a little while longer.

BTW... check out my buyers guide (click on "American" in my sig) for links to NewEgg, AccessMicro, Crucial, etc...

Oh by the way.You can probably find a 1.3TB for the price of the 1.2 TB you've mentioned.

Three months ago your proposal would have been "future ready"! Go DDR and follow Mark's recommendation for a Few Dollars More.

The K7 Master is $141 at AccessMicro, while the Epox 8K7A is only $121.
