upgrading cell phone question

I upgraded my cell phone with AT&T. I still have the old one, and it still connects to their network. How do I unactivate it? I'd like to donate it but I want to make sure it's "off".

yes, TDMA.

this is TDMA right

if you want someone else to use it, call cust service and tell them to unregister it for your account

slightly related post:

I have an old cell phone that doesn't ring or let me call out, but it tells me when I have messages...

don't they all go by an ESN number ? That's what you provide them when you activate a new phone. The company should deactivate the old one by ESN. It should be in the battery compartment.
