Hey,

I have heard quite a bit abotu people upgrading their 48x burners to 52.. How is this done? I am not quite sure.. I have heard it is possible, but does it really work..

and when you upgrade it.. does it also upgrade the rewrite speed?

Thanks

So I can get that from their site?
what do I download? I would think that they would not have an update to change a 48 burner to a 52... wouldn't they lose money?

I believe you d/l the firmware for the 52x drive and put it on your 48x drive.

Ohhh... Awesome... Thanks for the info motoamd

so does this also made the burner rewrite speed increase also..

right now my burner is at 48x12x48

so if i downloaded the 52x firmware update.. would it change the speed to be

52x24x48?

thanks for the help

It should...but I'm not sure

Anyway, does this work on LiteOn clones? I have an Iomega 48x24x48 CD-RW drive, can I use the LiteOn 52X firmware on it?

From that FAQ:

Q: 1.4. I have a "X" brand drive but I think it is manufactured by Lite-On, could this drive also be overclocked?
A: Yes, but you have to be sure that it's a Lite-On.

OK, I'm pretty sure that its a Lite-On, however, on that page, even some of the Lite-Ons can't be "overclocked", so how do I ascertain which Lite-On model my Iomega is a clone of?
If it helps, its an Iomega 48x24x48 CDRW55296INT-B drive.
