I'm going to be ripping the hard drive out of this computer and reformating it when I stick it in my new comp. Seems like I read somewhere that my mobo's bios needs to be updated in order to shake hands with the CPU. Can anyone tell me if there is validity to this statement? In a perfect world I will build the computer as is and upgrade the bios later. Will it even post?

thanks

It depends on what the CPU is, is it a 90nm CPU or is it a 130nm? If it is a 130nm, then you won't have to update the BIOS until you get the machine working. However, if you have the 90nm version, then you may have to update the BIOS, depending on which version of the BIOS is currently installed on the board. You will need to have v1.3 BIOS to be able to use the 90nm CPU's, however mine, as I purchased it from Monarch Computer, already had the latest BIOS at the time I bought it, version 1.3.

Summary: It depends on which BIOS rev you have currently, and also if your CPU is 90nm or 130nm
