The original working xbox is a an older version 1.0 while the dead xbox is a 1.6b with hynix ram. I'm wondering if the hynix chips will work on the older xbox.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

**EDIT**
Welp, I've answered my own question. Hynix RAM will not work with Samsun RAM. Now to sell this xBox for an older one.

I think you can... but there's only a few situations where the added memory would even be useful. Not to mention I'd consider that particular task of desoldering and resoldering to be very difficult unless you have some really nice tools.

It'll be my project this spring break or summer. I figure $10 for an old xbox is not a bad deal, although I think this "broken" xbox still works; the tray is the only thing that won't slide out.

probably emulation performance on Mame aswell as other software. Original Xbox is by far the best console as far as what you can do with it if its modded.
