I have an old 5200+ system laying around that i want to upgrade it and pass to my little brother, he mainly do kids stuff (light gaming and what ever kids do this days).
Anyway i'm using most of the hardware from the old system (9800gt, 2gb ddr2, psu and HD) and looking for good combo deals on the rest (cpu, motherboard and a case).
Budget is 250$ give or take.
I don't know whether to go with AM2+ and put the old DDR2 memory to use (and add 1 more stick if needed) or just go with AM3 and DDR3. Thoughts?

If you want to re-use the 5200+ system then an AM2+ board is your only choice. I bought a Gigabyte MA770-UD3 board for my 5200+ system that is now used as my HTPC. Its a full ATX board but it has been rock solid.

My main system is an AM3 setup. I used a Gigabyte GA-770TA-UD3 and 2 gigs of DDR3 and an Athlon II x2 250. Everything works great.
