okay so this one has been beat over the head over and over and over....

i have a problem with my inspirion display... and after calling the tech support and aranging a replacement, I was given the following to show me how to uninstall the HD

dell inspirion 8000 de-assembly

in it it details how to replace the processor... even the video card...

i'm not too worried about the video card but i'm thinking... can I swap out the processor?

I know the only diff (that i've been told by a dell tech) between the 8000 and the 8100 is the fact that the 8100 is run on a 133mhz bus while the 8000 is on a 100mhz bus... considering everything else is the same (i815 chipset), would it be possible to get a hold of a faster mobile processor and swap it out for what I have now?

Yeah you can replace the processor, but you have to prob. make some jumper changes so the mb knows that have a faster processor in it.

I have a Toshiba and wish I could upgrade mine :(
