Upgrading a GF6 6600 GT

Have a Leadtek 6600 GT...is there a worthwhile upgrade that will set me back less than $200? I'd really like one of the silent card models as this unit will become my HTPC. Are one of the silent 7600 models a good choice?

thats a 6 series gefore card, not a 4 series.

I'd go for the Asus 7800GT TOP silents.

the Gigabyte 7600GT is a solid choice, however a 7900GT is leaps and bounds faster, and Im hoping silent ones will come out soon

I dont recommend the Asus Silent 7800, despite it being marginally faster than the Gigabyte 7600, it is more costly, and because its on a larger die process than the 7600/7900 it runs quite a bit hotter.

Truthfully, if you can, wait for the 7900GT with HDMI that is supposed to be released this month. That will be awesome for an HTPC.

Which is better for video (DVD) HTPC and gaming ?

I have a BFG6800GT pci-e and will replace one of my 6600gt's w/ a 7600GT pci-e card.

Is the 7600GT better at dvd/scaling than the 6800gt ?

Is the 6800GT better than the 7600GT for gaming ?

It's moderately better. It's slightly faster but supports all the same features.
