Dear god, I had no idea what it would be like.
Newly bought:
BFG 7900GT CO (upgraded from an AIW 9800 Pro)
Athlon 64 X2 4200+ CPU (from a P4 2.66GHz
ABIT A8N-32X mobo (from an ASUS P4G8x Deluxe)
Seasonic S12 500W PSU (from something quiet)
Took my sweet time putting it together. At one point my wife came in and said it looked like I was doing surgery (cables were hanging out of the case) with multiple organ transplants (parts were everywhere).
Wow. Before I was gaming at 1024x768 on my Dell 2005FPW, usually with all the prettying options disabled. Now, I'm gaming fullscreen. 1680x1050. Most enhancements enabled, too.
Why, oh why didn't I do this sooner? I feel like I'm either high or drunk with this thing, it's so nice. I think I'm even typing faster on it.
Thanks for all your help/advice, folks. You helped me avoid wasting money.
