upgrading a dell laptop

im buying a inspirion 9400 and its coming with a x1400 is it possible in a few months to send it to upgrade to a 9700gs ?

Took a look at it, and it should be then yes. Also, if you dig around Dell's Suport site for long enough, you can find a take-apart guide for your machine which may prove helpful. If you decide to go that route, good luck to you, and who knows, in a few months, they may have an 8XXX or X2XXX card available that you can put in there.
